I have experience in doing presentations and talks at institutions like universities, schools and campuses both within the Netherlands and abroad. I’m happily sharing some of the topics I’ve discussed.

Motivation or should I say discipline?

During one of my favourite talks on motivation, I explained a large group of students (around 600) how I tried to work 2% harder than it was required throughout my university degree and to which amazing results that has led.

However, why is it that many people are motivated for many things – but most of them don’t reach the goals they’ve got in mind? My answer: discipline.

Let’s talk entrepreneurship

My first ‘company’ I had when I was as young as 11. Together with a mate of mine, we handed out flyers on which we offered to wash the cars of the people in our neighbourhood. Later on I have been in charge of other initiatives (and I still am!) including a student company during my studies where we were choosen the best company among all 26 first year student companies.

I’ve written a story about all the companies I’m involved with, such as SurfaWhile and several related initiatives.

Your network is your net worth

Through my own company, there was a question I had to ask to the director of a language school we were working with. The request was one that he would normally turn down, but he litteraly responded to me: ”Usually we don’t accept these types of offers but in your case and because I like the topic we can make an exception”. Managing people and managing your contacts can give you so much back in the long run if you master the process.

Leadership

Leadership – something where many things are written about as well as being said. To me it’s really about ensuring that others can grow. This topic includes my view on leadership and I have some great literature recommendations on this topic. In the end, to me leadership is mostly about taking care of others, let them florish – something a lot of people think they can do, but as soon as push comes to shove, the results will show something opposite.

Life as a Digital Nomad

Operating an online business that is selling surf holidays to clients in the Netherlands whereas you are residing in the beautiful Mexico. It’s all possible. I’ve been working on my companies while staying in countries like Mexico, Germany, Portugal, Morocco, Costa Rica, El Salvador and many more. I’m happy to share these experiences and provide people with some valuable tips. I published a story about the lessons I learned during the first week I stayed in MedellĂn, Colombia.
